Articulate Labs has developed a neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) device that will ideally supplement necessary physical therapy for over 11 million knee osteoarthritis sufferers in the United States and over 35 million in Europe.
Our device aims to address symptoms related to knee osteoarthritis with electrical muscle stimulation of quadriceps musculature based on measured joint loading and malalignment. The device personalizes treatment as the user moves by learning and then anticipating problematic loading through an on-board processor, accelerometers and patient inputs.
Invented by an osteoarthritis sufferer, we believe this solution will slow quadriceps disuse atrophy, increase knee joint range of motion, increase localized blood flow, and to re-educate the quadriceps muscles, all while a user moves during regular, everyday activity.
We are currently seeking to grow our management staff with medical device commercialization experts as we proceed toward both a CE mark for sales in the EU and FDA clearance for the above stated intended use.
Please note that this is an experimental device and is not commercially available at this time. However, please feel free to email us if you are interested in participating in future clinical trials.
